I have the Quick strap, I like the concept but the build quality of the connection between the strap and the camera does not give me a real warm feeling. However the Quick Strap works the same as the Black Rapid. I like to have both hands free when changing something on my flashes or repositioning the light stand.  A normal camera strap is a big weight on your neck. This strap sits on your shoulder and gives less stress on your muscle. Your camera is out of the way and can be picked up quick to use.

BUY THIS

The connection between the camera and the strap looks and works way better then the Q-Strap. The quality of the metal is much better than the Q strap, I feel confident hooking up my heavy $1800 camera (Canon 7D with battery-grip) to this hook.

The Black Rapid RS-4 offers this super smart design and is easy to use. The RS-4′s smart design is lightweight and low profile. It features a quick access, secure pocket for storing two extra memory cards in their protective cases. Like all R-Straps, the RS-4 is incredibly comfortable and quick on the draw. The R-Strap is the most innovative camera strap ever to hit the market. This patent-pending piece of equipment offers unparalleled ease of access to your camera and peace of mind. The R-Strap is worn diagonally across the torso from shoulder to hip and is adjustable to fit most photographers. The pad has a mesh underside for comfort and breathability. Our locking FastenR connects the R-Strap to the tripod socket located on either the camera body or the lens. Once connected, the camera hangs upside down, resting securely at your side or in the small of your back, with the lens pointing behind you. With the camera at your hip or behind your back, you can maneuver easily through a crowd, carry a tripod or other gear, or simply have both hands free.When youre ready to take the shot, the camera quickly glides up the strap into shooting position.

NOT THIS

NOTE: Instead of one bolt they use a plate to connect the strap. The fabric is rougher than the BlackRapid and the zipper is a lower quality one. If you show both straps next to each other the BlackRapid wins in overall quality hands down.

NOTE: This plate moves around, you can see the mechanical forces work as the hook put force on the plate that makes it spin. The fastening bolt is metal but enclosed in a plastic turning wheel that makes it a weak point. The hook is metal but compared to the BlackRapid looks not sturdy enough for a heavy camera, the lock screw of the hook can not be tighten in any direction. I’m afraid it will snap one day. It will be ok for a light camera like for a Canon XTi without battery grip.

But if you do not have the money, go ahead;

    I got the Q strap a few days ago. The strap itself seems well made not the hardware. I don’t care for the plate that attaches to the camera. Its seems to get loose more than I like. The hook that connects to the plate does not seem to lock properly when screwed down. I am going to either replace both with the R strap hardware (about $29.00 with shipping)or just get an R-strap whenever I get the money. So $19.00 for the strap plus $29.00 to upgrade…hmmmm Not much savings there.

    I now have the Black Rapid and the Quick Strap. The overall quality of the Black Rapid is significant better then the Quick Strap. The fabric is softer and feels better. The most obvious is the hook and the connection bolt of the Black Rapid. The metal looks and feels way more solid. Also the plate of the Quick Strap does not fasten tight enough as JoTeri already mentioned. The bolt of the Black Rapid is super tight specially if you make it a little wet before you put it on and the hook lock is solid compared to the flimsy solution of the Quick Rapid. It really is a better deal and money well spend if you buy the Black Rapid. (Maybe I post some photo’s later)
