The first day was the only day with a decent performance and a good explanation of their famous “Genius square” (Explanation how to use exposure triangle with Flash), it gave me high hopes for the rest of the workshop.

The second day was great for the students and for people who have no clue about street photography and how to use off camera flash. It showed the students how to do it. Great for inspiration and to start doing stuff like that. I liked their use of the SaberStrip.

The third and last day was a complete fail as they could not get the exposure right and failed to portrait a country singer in a way you could see it was a country singer. I’m referring to the fact that they used his guitar in the background and moved on to a different pose where the guitar was still blended in. The students did a better job getting the picture right. To me it was clear they had a global schedule but just flew by the seat of their pants. However this is what they call the “Lighten up and shoot” style, it obviously does not fit my style! Personally I think it was not worth the money ($99) to buy the video. (But if you still want the video it is now $149 at creativelive.com.)
Sorry Mikey and Andy it was not up to the level it suposed to be, using jokes to cover up failures and mistakes will not pass by me, you might also need to read up on hi speed flash photography before you explain it wrong!
